Dr. Shane Arishenkoff
Shane is a General Internist at VGH. He is the Ultrasound Lead for the UBC Division of General Internal Medicine and a member of the Canadian Internal Medicine Ultrasound (CIMUS) group. He completed a one year fellowship in Point of Care Ultrasound at the University of California Irvine. Shane joined the UBC Division of General Internal Medicine in 2014 and has been working to build ultrasound education for Internal Medicine in Vancouver since then. He is a staunch proponent of lung ultrasound and an advocate for making procedures safer through the teaching and strengthening of ultrasound skills. Otherwise, he is probably thinking about the next time he will be filling up at Pine State Biscuits after a few days of boogie boarding on the Oregon coast with his family. Dr. Nathan Chan
Nathan is a General Internist at VGH, and the education leader for the simulation program in the internal medicine residency program. He completed his ultrasound certification with the American College of Chest Physicians(ACCP) and has been heavily involved with the integration of its use, and the education of POCUS to trainees in UBC Internal Medicine training program. He is working on the further integrating the use of simulation education to help develop POCUS competency in the residency program, as well as improving the safety and technique in ultrasound guided procedures.
Dr. Katie Wiskar
Katie is a General Internist at Vancouver General Hospital. She completed her core Internal Medicine and General Internal Medicine fellowship at UBC. She completed a year of POCUS fellowship, including 6 months of Critical Care Ultrasound fellowship at Western University in London. Her POCUS passions include VEXUS and POCUS evaluation of volume status; all things echocardiography; and clinical integration of ultrasound findings. Dr. Barry Chan
Barry Chan was trained at Queen's University for both Core Internal Medicine and General Internal Medicine Fellowship. Subsequently, he became IMPOCUS lead there for 5 years. Now, he is situated at the St. Paul's Hospital site. Find him on Twitter @BuddingSprout.
